E3 2014: Shadow of Mordor hits Xbox One and Xbox 360 on October 7th

Announced during E3 2014, Shadow of Mordor is an upcoming action and role playing game set in the Lord of the Rings universe. The game is set between the events of The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings saga, and is developed by Monolith Productions. The game will be available on Xbox One and Xbox 360 in October of this year. The game will also be made available on PS3, PS4, and Windows PC.

The game features an open world setting and players will have the freedom to pursue side quests and roam freely around the world. Players become Talion, a ranger who loses his family and everything he holds dear, only to be returned from death by a mysterious Spirit of vengeance. A teaser video of the game was made available but no new gameplay footage was revealed. We’ve embedded two videos below, a teaser video from E3 and a gameplay video that is a few months old.

The game launches in October for Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
