Microsoft continues to attract big names on the Windows 11 Microsoft Store, and the latest additions include the social app Discord and the web browser Opera. The software giant also announced today that it will allow third-party storefronts on its Windows 11 Microsoft Store, and that the Epic Games Store will be coming to the Microsoft Store in the coming months.
The company previously announced that it was working to bring Amazon’s Android App Store to Windows 11, and the news of Epic Games bringing its storefront to the Microsoft Store is another big milestone. “Just like any other app, third-party storefront apps will have a product detail page that can be found via search or by browsing – so that users can easily find and install it with the same confidence as any other app in the Microsoft Store on Windows,” the company explained.
Microsoft said today that it’s looking forward to welcoming other storefronts on its new Microsoft Store going forward, and the company also reiterated that its redesigned store will also be available for Windows 10 users in the coming months. In regard to Android apps on Windows 11, a preview for Windows Insiders will be available soon as Microsoft plans to share more details about the system requirements.
As of this writing, we’re not able to find Discord or Opera on the Windows 11 Microsoft Store yet, but it shouldn’t be too long before the apps show up on the digital storefront. Yandex is another browser that’s coming to the Microsoft Store, and it will be interesting to see if Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome will follow.
