Yesterday, Discord announced that it is launching a Nitro Basic subscription at $2.99 per month. The company is also incorporating a new Activities feature that includes YouTube integration and casual games.

The new subscription plan provides a significantly cheaper option compared to the standard version of Discord Nitro, which will cost you $9.99 per month. So, what exactly do you get when you make a subscription to the Nitro Basic plan? First up is that users will be able to use custom emoji and custom stickers. On top of that, the file upload limit has also been enhanced to 50MB. And finally, users will also receive a Nitro badge which will be displayed on their Discord profile as well as access to custom video backgrounds.

While you will still not have access to features like HD streaming, boosted 200 server limit, and longer messages (up to 4,000 characters) among others that are part of the standard version of Discord Nitro, the Nitro Basic plan is still an upgrade that features a couple of nifty features that will enhance your user experience in the platform.

And as for the YouTube integration in Discord, users can create a playlist of videos they’d like to watch, then their friends will be required to join in to enjoy the experience within the desktop or web app via the new Activities tab. To do this head on over to the new Activities tab in Discord, then click on the YouTube Watch Together button. At this point, you should be able to curate your playlist on YouTube and watch the videos alongside your friends.

Discord has also included a few games in the Activities tab, especially because both YouTube and Putt Party are free. However, there are more entries like poker, chess, and sketch that you can also play with your friends on the platform though you need to have a Discord Nitro subscription. Other users joining the game after being launched by a person with an active subscription can play for free.
