How to fix Amazon Appstore Not Working Error

If you are experiencing issues with the Amazon Appstore on your Windows 11 computer, then you might not be alone. There can be various reasons why the Amazon Appstore is not working on your computer. A few of the key causes behind it:

  • Not Available in Your Region – Amazon Appstore is still expanding to new regions and countries. Therefore, it may not be available in your region yet. You can check here if your country has made it to the availability list yet.
  • \n

  • Windows Subsystem for Android – The appstore needs Windows Subsystem for Android(WSA) installed on your Windows 11 PC. It is also needed for running Android apps that will be installed through the Amazon Appstore.
  • \n

  • Virtual Machine Platform is unavailable – The Virtual Machine platform is not working because it has been turned off from the BIOS setting. This generally happens when you reset/flash BIOS which returns all the settings to the default value.

1. Change Region

\n

If you are not living in one of the supported regions, then we will need to change the location to the US or any of the supported countries or regions.

\n

Make sure that you have an Amazon account from the supported region, as it will be needed to log into the Amazon Appstore.

\n

    \n

  1. Press Windows + I to launch the settings app.
  2. \n

  3. Head to Time & Langauge from the settings.

  5. Then head to Language & Region from the options on the right.

  7. Now select the United States from the dropdown menu in Country and Region.

    It will download language and other required files in a couple of seconds for the applying region changes.

    This should make Amazon Appstore appear in the Microsoft store and be available for you to install.

2. Enable Virtual Machine Platform

The Amazon Appstore and WSA run on a virtual machine, an inbuilt feature in Windows 11 and 10. You can enable it in the following manner.

  1. Open the Start Menu search, type Turn Windows features on or off and head to the first result.

  3. Tick Virtual Machine Platform and then click OK to save changes.

The required files for the feature will be downloaded and then you can restart the computer to apply the changes. This will enable a virtual machine platform on your Windows 11 PC.

3. Manually install Windows Subsystem for Android

\n

Normally you should be able to install WSA from the Microsoft Store. However, it is not working for everyone due to a variety of reasons. But fret not; you can manually install Windows Subsystem for Android.

Using this method, you will first download the msixbundle and then launch it to install it like a regular application.

4. Clear Cache of Amazon Appstore

\n

When you have managed to install Amazon Appstore and used it for a while but it suddenly has stopped launching altogether. You can possibly make it work it by clearing cache in the following manner.

  1. Search Amazon Appstore in the Start Menu search and right-click to open Appstore’s menu and select App settings.

  3. Head to Storage & Cache.

  5. Click Clear Storage to delete locally stored files for the Amazon Appstore.

  7. Restart your computer and open the Amazon Appstore. It should open without any problem.

Fixing Amazon Appstore on Windows 11

You can fix Amazon Appstore by ensuring that all the basic checks are in place. Windows virtualization needs to be turned on for WSA and the Appstore to work.

Microsoft is continuously expanding the regions for Amazon Appstore but you can manually install it while waiting for the official release. Make sure to have an Amazon account from the supported region to log into the app store.
