According to new data from ComScore, Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform has dropped to 3% market share in the United States for the month of May 2013. Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform held a 3.2% market share back in February of 2013.
According to the data, Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform dropped to 3% share while Symbian held a 0.4% share. Google’s Android mobile operating system held the top spot in May with a share of 52.4% and was actually up by 0.7% compared to February of 2013. Apple ranked second place with a share of 39.2%, up by 0.3% compared to February of 2013. BlackBerry ranked third place with a 4.8% market share.
Just recently, Microsoft stated that the Windows Phone platform was “growing faster than anyone else right now.” In fact, Microsoft was proud to be in third place behind Apple and Google. “We think we’re solidly the third ecosystem right now. That’s a huge announcement in some respects,” Microsoft stated.
Microsoft may think they are ahead of BlackBerry but the data from ComScore indicates otherwise. Microsoft has a bit more work to do in order to grow.
