Bethesda Game Studios has confirmed the key details for the Starfield PS5 release, giving players a clear look at performance options and controller features ahead of launch on April 6. The game arrives with two distinct modes on PS5 Pro, allowing players to choose between higher visual quality or smoother gameplay depending on their preference.
On PS5 Pro, Starfield offers a Pro Visual mode that targets 4K resolution at 30 frames per second, which prioritizes detailed environments and sharper image quality during exploration and combat. Alongside that, the Pro Performance mode targets 60 frames per second, delivering smoother motion that benefits fast-paced combat and spaceship navigation across planets and space.
Both modes use PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, also known as PSSR, which improves image clarity through upscaling, and players can enable the latest version of this feature through system settings for better overall output.
DualSense Features Add More Immersion
All PS5 consoles support full DualSense integration, and these features play a big role in how Starfield feels during gameplay. Adaptive triggers adjust resistance based on weapon type, which makes shooting different guns and piloting ships feel more responsive. The light bar changes color depending on player health or ship status, while the touchpad allows quick actions like switching perspectives or opening menus without breaking flow.
Audio logs and communication also play through the controller speaker, which adds a more direct sense of in-game interaction during missions.
Starfield launches on PlayStation 5 on April 6, alongside the Free Lanes update and the Terrain Armada DLC, giving players new content from day one.
