Microsoft announced this morning some important updates for Microsoft Search, the enterprise search experience in Bing and other Microsoft 365 apps that helps customers save time by surfacing relevant organization information in search results. Microsoft Graph connectors for Microsoft Search are now generally available, allowing organizations to improve Microsoft Search results with third-party data and make this information available across Microsoft 365 apps.

Microsoft Graph Connectors were initially announced in 2019 and they’re currently available in the Microsoft Search experience in SharePoint, Office.com, and Bing. Microsoft announced new Jira and Confluence Graph Connectors at its Build conference this morning, in addition to the 130+ connectors from other companies including Salesforce and Service Now. Soon, information from Microsoft Graph Connectors will also become available from the Microsoft Search experience in Windows and Microsoft Teams, and the general availability of Microsoft Search Connectors and the expansion of Microsoft Search should greatly expand the types of searchable content sources across Microsoft apps and services.

Org Explorer, a new Microsoft Graph-powered experience is also coming to the Outlook desktop app this summer. The embedded app will help Outlook users to explore people and relationships and identify skills to help them complete their work. Org Explorer has started rolling out to Beta Channel users running Version 14107 of Outlook or later, and Microsoft plans to update the experience in the coming weeks before making it generally available this summer.

Microsoft’s annual Build developer conference is just getting started, and the company also announced big updates for Azure and Microsoft 365 apps this morning. You can follow our Build 2021 coverage on this page.
