The first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is out, and it quickly puts the spotlight on Samsung’s foldable phone. Peter Parker appears in the opening seconds using a Galaxy Z Flip, and the moment stands out for the wrong reason as he handles the device in a way that raises concerns.
The scene shows Peter watching a video on his foldable, likely a Galaxy Z Flip 7, although the exact model is not confirmed. He places the phone face down on a rusty metal beam while it is fully unfolded, and then leans on it, putting pressure directly on the display. That kind of handling does not sit well with how foldables are built.

According to the trailer, Peter’s careless use of the device has already sparked reactions online, especially given his financial situation after No Way Home. One line from the scene sums it up clearly: “That doesn’t sound responsible.”
Samsung designs its foldable displays with ultra thin glass and a protective plastic layer on top. That outer layer helps protect the screen but also makes it more vulnerable to scratches and surface damage compared to regular glass displays.
This is why basic care matters when using a foldable. Placing the phone face down while it is open increases the risk of scratches, especially on rough surfaces like metal. Adding body weight on top of the display only increases the chances of long term damage.
Not the right phone for Spider-Man
Peter Parker has a history of damaging his phones, as shown in earlier films like Spider-Man: Homecoming. His lifestyle involves constant movement and combat, which does not suit a delicate device like a foldable.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will release in theaters on July 31, and the trailer already gives fans something to talk about beyond the story.
