LEGO plans to turn the original PlayStation into a detailed building set aimed at collectors and longtime gaming fans, and the project reportedly targets a holiday 2026 release that recreates Sony’s classic 1994 console using nearly two thousand pieces while keeping the design close to the original gray hardware many players remember from the early PlayStation era.
The set reportedly includes around 1,900 pieces and focuses on the first PlayStation console design rather than the smaller PS One model that Sony released later, which means the build should resemble the square gray system with its recognizable disc lid, controller ports, and iconic shape that defined the start of Sony’s console history.
According to information shared by the Instagram account lego_minecraft_goat, the set carries the number 72306 and includes 1,911 pieces, while early details suggest the package will include the console and at least one PlayStation controller.
A collectible aimed at PlayStation fans
Reports say LEGO plans to launch the set during the December 2026 holiday shopping season, and the project appears aimed mainly at adult collectors who enjoy building display models of classic technology and gaming hardware.
The price reportedly sits around 159 euros, although LEGO has not officially confirmed the product or its final details.
LEGO has steadily expanded its retro gaming lineup in recent years, releasing sets based on the Nintendo Entertainment System, the Atari 2600, and the LEGO Game Boy that launched in October 2025, and a PlayStation model would continue that trend by bringing another major gaming icon into brick form while filling a gap that PlayStation fans have long recreated only through custom LEGO designs.
