It appears that one Windows RT based tablet from Dell has dropped in price, possibly due to a lack of demand for Windows RT tablets. Dell’s XPS 10 RT tablet is now priced at $299.99, down from its normal price of $449.
In case you were wondering, the XPS 10 runs Windows RT and comes with Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 RT; a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor; a 10.1 inch 1,366 x 768 display; a 28Wh battery rated at up to 10 hours; front and rear cameras; microSD slot; and 32GB of storage. The higher end XPS 10, powered by Windows 8, comes with AT&T 4G LTE and is priced at $499 and comes with 64GB of storage.
As CNET points out, perhaps the reason why the price was reduced was due to “Windows RT tablets not flying off the shelves.” But dont worry, Windows RT is not going away. As Microsoft’s Tami Reller pointed out recently, Windows RT provides much more flexibility to cover a wide variety of mobile devices. Windows Blue, an update to Windows 8 and Windows RT, is expected to only make this better.
