In the latest batch of update previews, Windows 11 users have been treated to the KB5028254 update, specifically designed for Windows 11 22H2. While the recently released KB5028245 update catered to Windows 11 21H2 users, Microsoft has now turned its attention to the more recent version with this latest update.

Although there are many similarities between KB5028245 and KB5028254, they’re not without their differences. The cumulative update for Windows 11 22H2 brings some unique improvements, one of which is an enhancement to the accuracy of brightness settings.

Being a preview version of the upcoming Patch Tuesday update, KB5028254 is categorized as both a non-security update and an optional one. If you have been encountering any of the issues addressed by this update, you have the option to install it right away.

Microsoft has highlighted a few key improvements introduced by the KB5028254 update:

  1. Enhanced Brightness Settings: With this update, Windows 11 22H2 users can expect more accurate brightness settings, providing a smoother and more comfortable viewing experience.
  2. Improved Device Functionality After Sleep: An issue affecting certain display and audio devices, causing them to go missing after the system resumes from sleep, has been resolved.
  3. Widgets Taskbar Fix: The update addresses a problem with Widgets, ensuring they no longer unexpectedly unpin from the taskbar.
  4. VPN Performance Improvement: Users relying on virtual private networks (VPN) will benefit from this update, as it tackles an issue related to excessive Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) requests to the network gateway. The problem occurred when the VPN was used on a wireless mesh network with an aggressive throttling algorithm, leading to poor network performance.

Given the array of bug fixes and enhancements included in the KB5028254 update, it is likely to attract widespread interest from Windows 11 22H2 users. As always, users are encouraged to keep their systems up-to-date to ensure optimal performance and security.

Since this update is pretty similar to the recently released KB5028245, check our post on it for more details.
