Microsoft Research and Incubations corporate vice president Peter Lee and distinguished scientist and managing director of Microsoft Research Outreach Ashley Llorens have come together to help kick off the first entry in the company’s new artificial intelligence research dedicated informational portal.
With all the chatter, inquisition and misinformation surrounding the blossoming topic of AI, and more specifically, Microsoft Copilot platforms, the company latest Microsoft Research Podcast entry acts as both an auditory entertainment medium but a launch point for additional subject information.

Beyond the thirty-seven-minute-long podcast featuring Lee and Llorens, the Microsoft Research Podcast page for episode 137 includes a Learn More section with links to tangential research and discussion that includes, The AI Revolution in Medicine: GPT-4 and Beyond, Benefits, Limits, and Risks of GPT-4 as an AI Chatbot for Medicine, VALL-E, as well as bridge to the company’s new Microsoft AI help & learning portal.
While the Microsoft Research Podcast volleys a myriad of technological topics, it appears that GPT, Chatbots and expanding language models will be a more recent focus of the hosts as they segment off a dedicated series to those topics.
In this new Microsoft Research Podcast series, AI scientist and engineer Ashley Llorens hosts conversations with his collaborators and colleagues about what these new models—and the models that will come next—mean for our approach to creating, understanding, and deploying AI, its applications in areas such as health care and education, and its potential to benefit humanity.
A second episode will be available soon that covers the difference that make integrating modern AI into health care a more realistic proposition as well as limits of GPT-4.
As for the AI portal, visitors are greeted with links that aim to help educate about Microsoft’s 365 Copilot and “what AI can and can’t do.” There is a dedicated search engine built into the portal to help answers some of the most common queries about AI as well as other links that help to explain Copilot for the web, most recent announcements and even walk users through using ChatGPT for content creation.
