Microsoft to start making good on its Boosteroid deal June 1

Microsoft recently made a deal that would bring first-party Xbox titles to cloud gaming platform Boosteroid for the next ten years. One of several such deals Microsoft has inked this year, it would also apply to Activision Blizzard games including Call of Duty if and when the ABK merger completes.

Now Xbox Game Studios is about to begin delivering on that deal with four PC titles from its catalog due to show up on Boosteroid on June 1, with the announcement coming via Xbox Wire. The four games in question are Deathloop, Grounded, Pentiment and Gears 5.

Boosteroid members – we’ve got you. Starting June 1 you’ll be able to play Deathloop, Gears 5, Grounded and Pentiment. Another step toward making PC games from Xbox globally available through cloud gaming services. More on the blog: https://t.co/nmRgIdchBH @Boosteroid_main

A similar deal was struck with Nvidia for its GeForce Now cloud gaming platform, and last week it was announced that the same four games were coming to GeForce Now.

This move on the part of Microsoft to offer its first party games on competing platforms—particularly cloud streaming ones—has been seen as a means of winning over regulators for its acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Although the deal was handed a major blow by the CMA, which ultimately decided to block the merger in the U.K., Microsoft continues its push to finalize. Last week the deal was approved by the European Commission and then China.
