Microsoft has recently announced an update for the Microsoft Edge browser via the Microsoft 365 roadmap. Effective October 2023, users can expect a change in how they receive alerts for available Edge updates.

To enhance user experience and visibility, Microsoft will shift the Edge Updates alerts from the Settings page to the Browser Essentials platform. This change aims to ensure that users are more promptly informed about available updates for the Microsoft Edge browser.

The Feature ID for this update is 171229, which was added to the roadmap on September 14, 2023.

This update pertains to the Microsoft Edge product. It will apply to the worldwide (Standard Multi-Tenant) cloud instances operating on the web platform. The release phase for this transition is set to General Availability, with the rollout scheduled to commence in October 2023.

Microsoft’s shift of Edge Updates experience to Browser Essentials improves visibility. It provides a more user-friendly experience for receiving alerts about available updates. This streamlines the update process, making it easier for users to stay up-to-date and enjoy a better browsing experience.
