Dead Island 2 release date gets bumped up to April 21st

Publisher Deep Silver has announced that the long-awaited Dead Island 2 will release on April 21st this year. That’s a week earlier than the previous April 28 launch date.

You asked for it, you got it. Dead Island 2 went gold and it's coming out a week early.

You’ll notice the team also mentions in the post that the game has already hit gold status. (This means the game has completed the development stage and been granted the “seal of approval” from the first-party hardware makers). This typically happens a few weeks before launch, so the fact that Dead Island 2 has already “hit gold” would facilitate the new release date.

Another potential reason for bumping up the game’s launch might be Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which recently saw its March release window pushed back to April 28th. Likely the new release date for Dead Island 2 is not entirely unrelated.

Both games are currently available for pre-order.
