  • Microsoft Teams Panels Update

It’s Friday; it’s time for the weekly Microsoft 365 recap. Here, we highlight some key features announced as coming to the Microsoft 365 suite soon.

Here’s everything you need to know:

Microsoft 365 Copilot

Microsoft unveiled Microsoft 365 Copilot, a new AI-powered assistant for its Microsoft 365 apps and services. It later debuted an Early Access program, an invitation-only, paid preview program that rolled out to only 600 clients across the globe.

And now, in a new announcement in Microsoft’s 365 message center tagged “Get Ready for Microsoft 365 Copilot,” the company has highlighted a few steps that users can take to start preparing for the feature.

According to Microsoft:

For example, you can learn more about getting your data prepared and how to detect and prevent oversharing. New technical content is available to help you learn more and answer some of the common questions you may have about how Copilot works, as well as about the privacy and security of your data.

It’s worth noting that the Early Access Program won’t have any impact on Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) users unless you’ve opted into the program.

New App Sharing Experience in Teams

According to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, the company is introducing a new app sharing experience in Teams. The feature tagged 122536 will let users share apps with other users directly from the app details dialog to a chat, group chat, or channel.

The feature has already started rolling out to users and is expected to ship to general availability towards the end of this month.

Microsoft Teams Panels Update

Microsoft has plans to ship a new update that will ship with reserving a room using a QR code support in Teams Panels. “Microsoft Teams panels are the colorful touchscreen devices you see mounted outside meeting rooms,” as indicated by the company.

The feature tagged 129366 in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap will allow Teams users to book and reserve a room for meetings that are scheduled for a later date, immediately, or even add a room to an ongoing meeting by “scanning a QR code on the scheduling panel and using the Teams app on their Android or iOS mobile phones.”

Teams Panels will now feature a QR code at the top left of the home screen. According to Microsoft:

Panels users can either schedule a new meeting with the room pre-populated for them or easily see the room’s availability for their meetings and book the room with one click.

The feature is set to start rolling out to users in August and hit general availability in September.

That’s it for this week, folks, be sure to check out last week’s recap in case you missed it and share your thoughts with us in the comments.
