Bing, Yahoo increase market share at Google’s expense – onmsft.com

Microsoft looks to be continuing the gradual trend of increasing their search engine market share at the expense of Google. The latest ComScore data for April shows Bing’s market share in the US increasing from 13.9% to 14.1%.

As CNET reports, Yahoo also managed to increase their market share from 15.7% to 15.9%. Considering that Yahoo’s search engine is powered by Bing, this comes as a double bonus for Microsoft in the same month. Combined, Bing and Yahoo now account for 30% of the US search engine market share.

Although Google remains the market leader by a large margin, long term trends might indicate their dominance leveling off in a few years. Microsoft’s recent deal with RIM to become the default search engine on their platform and the future launch of Windows Phone 7 on Nokia might increase the pace of the monthly fluctuations in Bing’s favor.
