Bethesda is the latest video game publisher to share its plans for next-gen console upgrades. Today, the company announced that gamers who own The Elder Scrolls Online and Doom Eternal on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will be able to get the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 versions for free when they will be available.
We don’t know yet when the next-gen versions of these games will be available, or if Bethesda will leverage the Microsoft’s new Smart Delivery feature that will debut with the Xbox Series X later this year. In the meantime, the publisher is currently “working hard” to make sure that the existing versions of Doom Eternal and The Elder Scrolls Online will run great on next-gen consoles through backwards compatibility.
The publisher also teased more next-gen upgrades for some of its other existing games. “While we don’t have any news to share just yet on our remaining catalogue of titles, we can confirm we are committed to offer free upgrades for current generation console owners of existing Bethesda titles we bring forward into the next generation of consoles,” Bethesda said today.
