Xbox to launch brand new Home UI in 2023 – onmsft.com

Xbox will be rolling out a brand new Home UI update in 2023. The new UI will be made available in part to a random set of Xbox Insiders who are part of the Alpha Skip-Ahead Ring this week.

Reportedly, the new interface will be similar to that of the Xbox TV app, as this comparison courtesy of The Verge demonstrates:

One new feature will be a “jump back in” row at the top of the Home Page of the Xbox dashboard where you will find your recently played games and apps, replacing the dedicated tile for this. Also, the new UI will feature a search function at the top of the page as well as a Settings button. Unfortunately, it does not appear that ad tiles are going anywhere in this new update.

Senior product manager lead of Xbox experiences Ivy Krislov has this to say of the forthcoming update,

We know the Xbox homepage is where our gamers spend the most time, and it’s a space that’s very personal. We also know we can always be listening and learning how we can do better here while keeping your experience fast and familiar. With that, we’re kicking off a multi-month series of experiments to learn how to create a more personalized home screen experience and address some of the top trends and fan requests.

We want to ensure this experience is the best it can be, and we know getting it right will take some time which is why we will be rolling it out slowly and iterating throughout the process. With your input, we’re looking forward to launching this new, better Home experience in 2023.

What other improvements might come to the Xbox OS next year, we in the gaming public will have to wait and see.
