Xbox celebrates Disability Pride Month for the first time – onmsft.com

Team Xbox has been making strides this console generation to make gaming more accessible than it has ever been before for those with handicaps and disabilities. A few examples of this are the creation of the Xbox Adaptive Controller – specially made for those with limited mobility – and the implementation of sign language into the cinematic story segments of Forza Horizon 5.

And now the Xbox Team is celebrating Disability Pride Month for the first time as it endeavors to uplift the Gaming and Disability community and make video games inclusive for everyone. This can be seen in a variety of ways. One of which is the ASL (American Sign Language) Xbox Twitch channel for the hearing impaired. The channel features sign interpretation for about 25 hours of livestreams every week.

Also, last Fall Xbox added accessibility feature tags to games to help gamers with disabilities and handicaps find the perfect game. Now, there are over 400 games featuring these accessibility tags, many with multiple tags.

At Xbox, we believe in fostering positivity and inclusivity for everyone in the gaming community. This month for Disability Pride Month, we want to celebrate people with disabilities and empower everyone to game as they are. https://t.co/2hXtaq9yKf

And now, Microsoft Rewards Members in the US and UK can donate earned points to organizations that support gaming and disability communities. Below is a list of such organizations to be featured in July:

  • SpecialEffect
  • The AbleGamers Foundation
  • Warfighter Engaged
  • DAGERSystem

You can visit the Xbox Accessibility Guidelines page to learn more about how the team is working to make Xbox a place where everyone can have fun.
