Google has finally made available Chrome 22 Beta build 22.0.1229.14 to the Beta channel. This new build of Chrome offers the Mouse Lock API, additional Windows 8 enhancements, and refined support for HiDPI/Retina screens. On top of that, we get a new menu icon!

“For you game lovers out there, you’ll be happy to hear that today’s Beta release includes the Pointer Lock JavaScript API (a.k.a. mouse lock). This means 3D web apps and games like first-person shooters can remove your cursor from the screen and get access to raw mouse movement data, so you can pan the screen’s view to your heart’s content,” Google stated in an official blog post. Aside from Mouse Lock API support, Chrome 22 now features better Windows 8 support, but the company has yet to disclose exactly what has improved in this area. Chrome 22 also comes with improved support for high resolution displays, including Retina screens used on Apple’s MacBook Pro. Google also replaced the wrench icon in Chrome for the Android-standard “hot dog” menu icon. What are you waiting for? Grab your download here.
