The Windows Phone Recovery Tool might finally upgrade AT&T Lumia 830 to Denim

If you’re the owner of a Lumia 830 on AT&T, chances are you’re still fuming over the lack of a Denim firmware upgrade. Denim brought a number of key features to Lumia devices, including “Hey Cortana,” Live Folders, extra Glance screen features, and improved browsing. Most important, however, and the most glaring weakness of the Lumia 830 for AT&T customers, is Lumia Camera 5, which is only available via Denim.

Windows Central is reporting that although Denim still isn’t available as a typical over-the-air update, it might be available via Microsoft’s Windows Phone Recovery Tool. If you’re not aware, the WPRT is the means by which you can restore a Lumia device to its factory condition–a destructive process that wipes all data and starts entirely from scratch.

Is this Denim running on an AT&T Lumia 830?

Is this Denim running on an AT&T Lumia 830?

Windows Central speculates that Denim will be included whenever AT&T releases a Windows 10 Mobile update, and that’s entirely plausible. Nevertheless, if you’re in a hurry to enjoy the extra goodness of Lumia Camera 5 and don’t mind giving your Lumia 830 a factory reset, then plug in to WPRT (check out our how-to right here) and download the latest factory image.

Good luck, AT&T Lumia 830 users! We’re wishing you good snapping with Lumia Camera 5.
