Windows Phone gained a bit of market share in the US in September 2014 – onmsft.com

Windows phone gains a small market share in the us in september 2014

ComScore has released its latest data for September 2014, revealing the performance of various mobile operating systems, as well as the OEMs, in the US. The latest figures reveal that Android continues to dominate the US market with a 52.1 percent market share, while Apple resides at 41.7 percent. As for Microsoft, they have a mere 3.6 percent share, up by 0.2 percent compared to previous quarter. Blackberry and Symbian are still present with a 2.3 percent and 0.2 percent share respectively.

In the case of smartphone manufacturers, Apple and Samsung continue to lead the market, with 41.7 and 29 percent share, respectively. Apple has seen a slight decrease of 0.4 percent while Samsung grew by the same percentage in the US. The other OEMs in the top five include LG (6.9 percent), Motorola (5.4 percent) and HTC (4.4 percent).

As for the most used apps, Facebook continues to lead the charts, while the remaining top ten includes a majority of Google apps such as Google Maps, YouTube, Gmail, etc.
