Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview update 8.10.12393.890 rolling out now

A new update to the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview is rolling out now. The build number is 8.10.12393.890. No word on what is new, as we are downloading the update right now. Head over to Settings > Phone Update and snag the update right now!

On May 14th, Microsoft rolled out an update to the Developer Preview (8.10.12382.878),  adding a few improvements based on feedback. Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview was originally released in April of this year.

This update is only rolling out to those who have the Preview for Developers app installed, which allows you to get the Developer Preview of Windows Phone 8.1. You can learn how to get Windows Phone 8.1 by taking a look at our handy guide.

The update took a while to install for us, especially at the beginning, but should be complete within 15 to 30 minutes depending on what phone you have. It weighs in at roughly 20MB in size. There appears to be no major changes, just minor fixes and improvements across the board. We’ve noticed that there is a new boot screen, which now shows off the Windows Phone flag instead of the words “Windows Phone.”

Grab the update and let us know in the comments below if you notice any new improvements. We’ve reached out to Microsoft and a company spokesperson told us they had “nothing to share at this time.”
