Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring who installed the latest Redstone 5 build 17728 this week now have access to a working version of Microsoft’s much-anticipated Your Phone app for Windows 10. Your Phone was one of the main highlights of the company’s Build developer conference in May, showing that Redmond was finally ready to bring seamless syncing of photos, text messages and phone calls between smartphones and PCs.
This early version of Your Phone available today for Fast Ring Insiders (we also received the update on a Skip Ahead PC) is quite limited as it can only sync photos with an Android phone. To get started, you’ll have to install the “Microsoft Apps” app on your Android handset, which will do the syncing with Your Phone on Windows 10 (a similar app has yet to be released on iOS). Microsoft’s Vishnu Nath said on Twitter that the ability to send and receive text messages from an Android phone would be coming in a future update.

It’s still not clear if Your Phone will actually ship with the next major Windows 10 update this Fall. However, since this is just an app that Microsoft can update through the Microsoft Store, this should be much less complicated to implement and support than something that is baked in the OS like Windows Sets, which has now been delayed to next year.
