Build 2014

According to a new report, Window and Windows Phone Store have reached 400,000 apps combined. Earlier, we reported that Windows Store has reached 150,000 apps milestone for Windows Store, which means Windows Phone Store has managed to rack up 250,000 apps, and still counting.

Microsoft unveiled Windows 8.1 Update 1, Windows Phone 8.1, and more during the company’s Build 2014 Developer Conference Day 1 keynote yesterday. Microsoft is gearing up for “universal” apps that work across all platforms, and the company has already hinted at this with a banner that was spotted at Build. Developers will now be able to create universal apps that will work on all forms of Windows device without the need for changes to be made to code.

Microsoft did announce at the event that almost 500 apps are being added daily to the Windows Phone Store, so it seems it’s slowly moving in the right direction, but it still has a lot of ground to cover to come close to Android and iOS. Additionally, the banner spotted at Build by the folks at Neowin also mentions that Windows Phone and Windows Store racks up 14 million downloads every day, which is equally impressive.
