Microsoft’s upcoming update to Windows 8, codenamed Windows Blue, recently saw a leak of one of its early builds, showcasing a wealth of new features and improvements. According to a new finding today, Microsoft may be looking to enhance the Live Tile just a bit.
Apparently, Microsoft has added a download progress bar to the Live Tile in Windows 8.1 (Windows Blue). This feature was observed in the leaked Windows Blue build of 9364.
This download progress bar could mean two things. First, it could be a way to show users the progress of installing a new app. Rather than having to see the progress in the Windows Store, you can now see it directly on your Start Screen.
Second, this could in-fact be a way for Microsoft to provide app updates and allow the user to see the update installation progress. Both are interesting ideas for the progress bar under the Live Tile, but what does Microsoft have in mind?
The Live Tiles on the Start Screen are not extremely interactive as it is, but having a download progress bar on a tile adds more life to it. Looks like we will have to wait until Build 2013 before we hear any official word or learn about any features of Windows 8.1 from Microsoft.
