Win81 9484

It’s been a long and vigorous journey, but the development of Windows 8.1 is almost at an end. We have but a few weeks before Microsoft sign off the Windows 8.1 RTM and send it off to our beloved OEMs for testing and pre-loading onto hardware in time for launch in October. Today, we’ve learned about yet another RTM escrow build, this time build 9484, which was compiled on the 12th August 2013 at 5:06 PM.

For those who don’t know what RTM escrow is, it’s a development stage at Microsoft in which the company compile potential builds for RTM. This means build 9484 could potentially be the official RTM released later this year, instead with an artificial bump to a round build number, something Microsoft is known for doing.

The full build string reads: 9484.0.winblue_rtm.130812-1706

Microsoft have compiled a total of 53 new builds since the compilation of the Windows 8.1 Preview which was compiled on the 15th of June this year. The Preview was released at the BUILD developer conference, and is the only official build to be released by Microsoft before RTM.

It was recently revealed that the Windows 8.1 release date was slated for October 17 for Windows 8 users and October 18 for everyone else. It was also recently confirmed that the Windows 8.1 RTM is set for compilation late this month. Exciting times!

This latest build string comes from numerous files available via Microsoft itself, it takes minutes for someone to dive into design files to see the latest build string. Check out the source link for more.
