With the recent launch of Windows 8 and Windows RT, it was only a matter of time before these two new operating systems received their first security updates. As part of November’s Patch Tuesday, Microsoft will release a set of security patches to address various issues.

November Patch Tuesday will feature six patches which will address 19 vulnerabilities in Windows, Internet Explorer, and .NET Framework. Three of these patches will be for Windows 8 and Windows RT. Four of the six updates are rated Critical and address 13 vulnerabilities in Windows 8, Windows RT, and Windows Server 2012. One update is rated moderate and will patch four flaws in Excel, from Office 2003 up to Office 2010. This will be the first time Windows 8 and Windows RT will receive a security update via Patch Tuesday, considering the operating systems were only launched very recently. Microsoft will release these security updates on November 13th at 1PM Eastern Time.
