Microsoft has just released the latest Windows 11 Insider preview build for the Dev Channel, upping the version number to 25182. This new build is now set to expire on September 15th, 2023, and although you still have plenty of time, it’s always good to pay attention to these expiration notices so your Insider build doesn’t stop functioning.
The build comes with two notable improvements, one an update to the Camera app that “can now understand the state of the privacy shutter on supported hardware, like the Microsoft Modern Webcam or the integrated camera on many new Windows 11 laptops.” The camera app will now be able to display a warning if these cameras have a shutter blocking the view or the lid on a laptop closed, noting that the camera is blocked and offering help.
The Microsoft Store app is also getting an update, offering a couple of improvements:
Screenshots in search results: You can now view screenshots in search results to help improve your browsing experience.
Install games directly from the Microsoft Store app: When you find a game you like, we install it right from the Microsoft Store, without switching apps.
Along with these app improvements, there are a number of fixes in this latest build, including for issues causing a decrease in FPS when playing games, a Start menu crash, the “left-half of the File Explorer title bar to not be draggable via mouse or touch,” unexpectedly duplicated folders in File Explorer’s navigation pane or the desktop, and an issue causing the camera light on laptops to get stuck on.
