Just a few weeks before the release of Windows 10, Microsoft is finally addressing one of the company’s most vocal complaints. Being a North American, US specific, based technology company has affected the way Microsoft distributes its software. Even though Windows and Office are worldwide names, there are various localization issues that influence the daily distribution of these productivity products. However, when it comes to entertainment, the localization process sometimes seems impossible.
As the Windows 10 release looms over the horizon, Microsoft’s refocus on bundling entertainment with Windows is becoming more apparent. A few builds ago, the Windows team began incorporating entertainment options and menus into the Windows Store. A couple of days ago, Microsoft renamed their Music service offering for yet, a third time. As of yesterday, the Music page in the Windows Store had only been active for the U.S., Canada, Ireland, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. Microsoft’s entertainment ambitions are expanding and as of today, the company announced that both of Music and TV & Videos pages will be reaching additional markets, finally.
According to the Windows Blog, “Starting today (rolling out over the course of the next 24 hours), we’re turning on the Music page in the Store in 17 additional markets: Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Finland, France, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, and Sweden.”
Besides to the Music page being active to more markets, a Movies & TV page will be rolling out to fans in Brazil today. For Brazilian Insiders on the latest build, they will now be able to go to the Movies & TV page in the Store to view matching top-selling movies and TV shows offered in their region. Users will also note that their purchased or rented material will also appear in the Movies & TV app.
