At the start of last week, we learned that Windows 10 Mobile insiders would not be getting build 10240 due to a “blocking bug” that is preventing the Windows team from releasing that particular build to Insiders. As a point of reference, the PC version of Windows 10 uses an updated version of build 10240 as the RTM client.
While Microsoft is working hard to release a new build of Windows 10 Mobile, some eager beavers have leaked a ROM of Windows 10 Mobile build 10240 compatible with the Lumia 640, 640 XL and 930. And of course, we’ve gone hands-on with this build for your viewing pleasure. Watch build 10240 in action below. The new build includes very small changes and an overall performance boost.
As seen in build 10240, you can now charge your device while having it powered off. Plugging a charging cable into a device when powered off now displays a charging indicator on the screen instead of booting the device up completely. More on that here.
The biggest story of the past week has to do with side loading Android apps onto Windows 10 Mobile. Microsoft announced earlier this year that they had come up with a way to bridge Android and iOS apps over to Windows Phone, and it appears the tool which enables side loading of Android apps onto Windows 10 Mobile has leaked publicly.
