Microsoft just updated its Messaging + Skype app to include phablet support. With Lumia 950s already being shipped to AT&T customers today, Microsoft prepared its Messaging + Skype app to support bigger phones, namely the Lumia 950 XL. The phablet support will also help other Lumias as well, especially the Lumia 1520.

The Messaging + Skype app update brings it to version 1.11.13005.0. As a reminder, the Windows 10 Messaging + Skype app integrates Skype within the Windows 10 OS for a more unified messaging experience.

Here is a list of the improvements according to the Messaging + Skype app changelog:

  • New Add friends on Skype option
  • Skype Settings as another new option
  • New Landscape Mode for Phablets

The Messaging + Skype app now includes the ability to configure Skype settings within the app. The Messaging + Skype app is a universal app available for all Windows 10 devices; including Windows 10 Mobile.
