Windows 10 build 10147: Minor new user interface tweaks and refinements

\

On Thursday, June 18th, Windows 10 build 10147 leaked onto the internet. In this particular build, Microsoft has added several user interface refinements as the operating system nears its July 29th release date. Let’s take a quick look at some of the user interface refinements.

\

If you missed our hands-on video of build 10147, you can watch it here. In Windows 10 build 10147, Microsoft has refined the Start menu experience by adding the Settings and File Explorer buttons on the bottom right corner. In addition to that, Microsoft has also changed the icon for the All Apps button.

\

Microsoft has also (finally!) changed the Project Spartan branding to the official Microsoft Edge branding, complete with the new Edge app icon. On the far right of the taskbar is the new arrow icon — which looks much better than its predecessor.

\

The Action Center looks a lot better with more transparency as well as new buttons for taking a quick note via OneNote and setting up Quiet Hours. The date and time area looks much better, with transparency and matching accent color scheme from the operating system.

\

The 3D flip animation for Live Tiles has returned in build 10147, but it is unknown at this time if this will remain in the final build of Windows 10. Other minor changes in Windows 10 build 10147 include the “New” label next to the App Apps button on the Start menu now featuring the accent color of the operating system. Previously, this was a static color. Now, it will match the accent color. The Music and Mail apps both have new icons.
