VLC for Windows Phone didn't pass the store certification, but there is a video of the running app

The long battle to bring VLC to Windows Phone continues with recent failure to pass the store certification. The team working on the app for Windows Phone has been working for a long time to bring VLC into the modern Windows environment, but finishing the job is proving difficult. The app has a beta program which has yet to see its first build to test. However a video was published which demonstrates the app running on a Windows Phone via the Project My Screen app.

Certifying an app for the Windows Phone Store can be a difficult process because each rejection requires the developers to fix bugs or change the way their app works, then resubmit. Each submittal can take valuable time which should could be used fixing new bugs found by the beta tester. The timing also is unfortunate because Thanksgiving in the US was on Thursday the 27th and workers in the US have the day off. Hopefully the app will pass certification and enter the store early December and the team will begin to polish it for a public release.

In the meantime there is a video which was created by the lead developer on the project showcasing the app. The video shows the app navigating through several menus, selecting and playing media. The app looks great with a nice fluid UI and natural operation. The app looks very modern yet powerful which is a nice change for modern apps. Check the video out below:
