Verizon is feeling the pinch of the carrier price wars, drops rate plans

It would seem the steady and constant barrage of customer friendly but seemingly carrier unfriendly news that continues to pour from the T-Mobile “Uncarrier Events” is forcing U.S. wireless carriers to react. In an attempt to stay aggressively competitive, Verizon has decided to trim $10 off the monthly rate some shared data plans.

The savings can be found on six Verizon shared plans ranging from $30 for 1GB of data to $140 for 20GB of data.

Verizon is also cutting $5 off its 8GB plan, which will now be $85.

While this news may be seen as a slice of daylight for U.S. based Verizon customers, this is also a calculated defense move for Verizon. With competitors like T-Mobile recently offering rollover data plans as well as smartphone financing to customers with bad to no credit, or AT&T with it’s new one month rollover plan and boosted data caps, the doors to a mass exodus from Verizon could begin to pry open soon.
