Utilities companies use the cloud to get better data faster for the best design in less time

The cloud is a wonderful new tool which disrupts traditional ways of getting things done across industries. In particular the utilities industry has been using the cloud to reduce the number of steps between data collection and design. Companies which build infrastructure work between offices and on construction sites to ensure the design is efficient and functional. Gathering data on site can be difficult and require many steps before designers can apply real world data to their models.

Using Azure, GeoSpatial Innovations has empowered power utility designers to get real world data applied to their designs faster with fewer steps. Handheld GPS units send data directly to the cloud concerning geography and location of critical features like buildings and existing infrastructure. Using new tools, like Azure, companies can accomplish their goals in less time with less guess work, and this is better for business and consumers alike. The next generation of infrastructure will be designed using modern tools making it more effective and more efficient.
