Tubecast for Windows Phone and Windows 8.1 picks up a big update

Tubecast is possibly the best YouTube client available, not just for Windows, but for Windows Phone as well. If you happen to be a regular user of the app, you be glad to find out the developer has released a big update for both platforms. The latest update brings a handful of new features and improvements for both operating systems.

The latest update brings 4K video quality for Windows Phone as well a new icon, better news feed for users logged in to their account, bug fixes and lots more. As for Windows 8.1, there’s support for Latin Serbian language as well as search-related improvements.

Here’s the complete change log for Tubecast:

Windows Phone

  • New video quality : 4K (only use it for casting, no smartphone can decode it correctly at the moment)
  • Windows 8 merged design and code
  • Horizontal Navigation
  • ‘Network error’ fixed, it was due to YouTube API quota
  • Bigger newsfeed for logged users
  • Improve DLNA (with new SmarTV)
  • Improve annotation handling
  • New pinch gesture and doubletap for fullscreen videos
  • All the player zone is clickable for play/pause
  • New Icon
  • Bug fixes

Windows 8.1

  • Screen stays on while playing videos
  • Search handling in the app by hitting keyboard directly
  • Latin Serbian language
  • Improve annotation handling
  • All the player zone is clickable for play/pause
  • Bigger newsfeed for logged users
  • New button for opening Application bar (easier for Windows 10 users)
  • Bug fixed

Head over to the respective App stores and grab the updated Tubecast app. The Tubecast Pro carries a $2.99 price tag, but since its a universal app, you only have to pay once and download it on all your devices.
