Microsoft has added a new feature dubbed TruVoice to Skype. The feature powered by AI will now let users translate Skype to Skype video calls in real-time. Though the capability to translate voice into text was already available on the platform, you can now do this using your own voice.
The company has released this feature in a bid to make translations more human-like. Once you activate this feature, the AI technology will be used to “sample your words and tune the translation to sound like you.”
This will help break language barriers and enhance effective communication when on a video call with someone who speaks a different language. You can use a different language to communicate during the video call, the tool will then translate the information to a different language that the other party can understand using your own-voice in real-time, thus making the meeting experience seamless.

TruVoice is currently available for Skype Insiders and available for a number of different languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, and Chinese.
In the past, we’ve seen Skype mimic Teams by adding Together mode to 1-on-1 calls, therefore, it’ll be interesting to see if Teams will get the TruVoice feature in the future. Most recently, Microsoft has been heavily investing in the platform by adding a plethora of features to it with the aim of enhancing its user experience.
