Windows tablets are increasing in numbers, and in the past few months, we’ve seen several companies release Windows-based tablets with a decent screen size, and a bunch of accessories to choose from, with the most notable one being Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3.
Toshiba, a popular PC manufacturer, has released their latest Windows 8.1 powered 2-in-1 PC featuring a detachable keyboard so it can be used as a notebook as well. The machine also comes with Wacom Pen support so you could be more productive while using the tablet.

With its multiple modes and high-precision pen input, the device is instantly adaptable to any scenario whether it is insurance adjusters filing claims, educators and students in the classroom, pharmaceutical sales reps on the road or meetings in the office,” said Carl Pinto, vice president of marketing, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Business Solutions Division. “We have engineered this premium device to be the ultimate mobile companion, while still satisfying the security and management requirements critical to IT departments.”
The tablet features a 12.5-inch Full HD display with vibrant colors, and wide viewing angles so it could be used by students and business professionals alike. The Wacom digitizer comes with 2,048 points sensitivity to offer a smooth handwriting experience. It’s powered by a Intel Core M processor which offers impressive performance without affecting the battery life of the machine — the company claims it can provide a battery time of up to nine hours on a single charge.
It can be detached from the keyboard so you could use it in a tablet mode. The keyboard features a hinge mechanism so it could be detached with one hand, without using a lot of force.
Other notable features include up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage so it should offer very decent performance. There are multiple USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, ethernet port, micro USB, and ships with Windows 8.1 as its operating system.
Portege Z20t will hit retail from January 2015 starting at a whopping $1,399, which is quite high. But, if you want to save some cash, you will also be able to buy only the tablet — excluding the keyboard and digitizer pen — from February 2015 for $899.
