Third-party Instagram apps for Windows Phone working once again – onmsft.com

A recent issue came up with the popular photo service Instagram, where a recent API change was blocking all uploaded photos via third-party Instagram apps for Windows Phone. This created a huge ruckus from those who use these unofficial apps for Instagram.

\

The popular unofficial Instagram app “Instance” suffered the same issue, where users were unable to upload photos to Instagram. Apparently, Instagram made a change to their API preventing photos from being uploaded and today rolled out another update to their API, re-enabling third-part apps to utilize the service once again.

\

“We recently made an update to the systems that we use to fight spam to help prevent future attacks and increase security,” Instagram stated regarding the original change that was causing havoc. It appears now that this functionality is now back to normal and users can now enjoy their favorite third-party Instagram app, such as Instance.

\

Instagram added that the company had no intention to block third-party apps, but simply wanted to fight spam and prevent malicious postings. No word on when we will see an official Instagram app on Windows Phone, which apparently appears to be in such high demand.
