Surface RT and Surface Pro finally available in Taiwan, but is it too late?

Surface

According to a new report, the Surface RT and Surface Pro are now available in Taiwan. In fact, those in Taiwan who have been eagerlay waiting for Microsoft’s Surface tablet can now snag one up at the Tsann Kuen Enterprise Co. and Fayaque Co. The Surface RT runs for NT$10,888 for the 32GB model and NT $13,888 for the 64GB model. The Surface Pro runs for NT$24,888 for the 64GB model and NT$27,888 for the 128GB model.

Microsoft’s Surface RT was released in October of 2012 in the United States, while the Surface Pro was released in February of 2013. We do recall an announcement from Microsoft earlier this year where the company revealed that the Surface RT and Surface Pro would be available in more countries by March of 2013. The list of countries Microsoft mentioned included Taiwan. So why are we barely seeing these devices hitting Taiwan now?

Microsoft recently dropped the price on both the Surface RT and Surface Pro, in an attempt to boost sales. Microsoft even revealed recently that the company has earned $853 million dollars in Surface revenue since launch, after reporting a $900 million dollar loss for its Surface devices during its quarterly earnings report recently.

Microsoft is still trying to achieve a global expansion of the Surface tablet, which can attribute to a lack of sales. Why is Taiwan receiving the Surface numerous months after the device was launched in the United States? What is Microsoft thinking? Only they can answer this question it seems.

Regardless, if you are in Taiwan and have been holding out for a new Surface device, now is your chance! For those of you in Taiwan who couldn’t wait and managed to snag a Surface somehow, do you regret your decision? Sound off in the comments below!
