Steven Sinofsky, head of the Windows division at Microsoft is expected to have a rather scheduled day on Wednesday, with the launch of the Windows 8 Consumer Preview and conference at the Mobile World Congress. A new report is suggesting that the success of Windows 8 could mean big things for the head of Windows.
The report suggests that Sinofsky has both “the tech chops” and “panache and showmanship” to take over Microsoft from current CEO Steve Ballmer. Sinofsky has had a bit of a ride at Microsoft, joining many different divisions at the company before being where he is today.
Sinofsky joined Microsoft in the year 1989, where he became the technical assistant to Bill Gates. He was then head of the Microsoft Office team, where he lead the development of Office 2003 and 2007. He was then found at the Windows division in 2006, and became head of the division in 2009.
Sinofsky made some changes to the Windows division at Microsoft when he became the head, such as removing the amount of managers between him and the junior members. This has helped him during the development of Windows 8.
Microsoft is expected to unveil the Windows 8 Consumer Preview tomorrow at the Mobile World Congress, where the company will be demonstrating and talking about the new features the operating system has received.
