Snapchat on Windows Phone: There are plans to make it available in the future

We all know the storied love/hate relationship between Snapchat and Windows Phone by now, with app developer Rudy Huyn caught in the middle. With the publishing and subsequent removal of 6snap (an official third-party app from Huyn), Windows Phone users have been left in the dark when it comes to utilizing the service. There were countless online petitions for an official Snapchat app to no avail. Snapchat even threatened to ban account holders who use third-party apps to access the popular photo messaging service.

Earlier today, one brave Twitter user asked Snapchat’s Support Twitter handle if they “hated” Windows Phone. The typical “Snapchat isn’t currently available on Windows phones right now, but we rly appreciate the feedback” response was provided. When asked if the app would be available someday, this was the response, “There are plans to make it available in the future, we’ll give [details] when that’s close. Hope this helps!”

@raphaeu There are plans to make it available in the future, we’ll give deets when that’s close. Hope this helps! 🙂

What does this mean? Was this said just to calm people down or is Snapchat really contemplating Windows Phone for an official app? To take things a step further, is Snapchat hovering over the idea of having an official app on Windows 10 Mobile now that the operating system is nearing release? Only time will tell. In the mean time, don’t get your hopes up too much.
