If you’ve been looking to build a new PC to go along with the fancy new features in the Anniversary Update, Samsung has got you covered with some particularly robust new solid state drives. The two drives are named the 960 PRO and the 960 EVO, and they seem like the sort of hardware that a lot of PC enthusiasts are going to be chomping at the bit to grab for themselves.
Samsung Electronics, a worldwide leader in advanced memory solutions for more than two decades, today unveiled the Samsung 960 PRO and 960 EVO, its newest solid state drives (SSDs). The V-NAND based, M.2 form factor SSDs were built on the company’s category-defining Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) SSD leadership. With powerful performance, endurance and capacity topped with all new and more robust Samsung Magician software package, Samsung continues to accelerate the NVMe era.
The big draw here isn’t just that the SSD drives look like they’re going to be solid pieces of hardware – they’re also more or less breaking some ground here. The 960 PRO drive comes with a whopping 2TB capacity, which gives you an utterly massive amount of storage to have in solid state. This sort of capacity in a solid state drive is more or less unprecedented, at least when it comes to SSD’s that have been made generally available to the public. Throw in a sequential read and write speed up to 3,500 MB/s and 2,100 MB/s respectively, and you’ve got yourself something pretty unique.
