Last week, Research in Motion, the maker of the BlackBerry, suffered a downtime that affected its mobile services globally. Now, RIM is offering BlackBerry users $100 dollars worth of free apps and one month of free tech support, as well as an apology for the downtime.

RIM suffered the outage when a critical traffic-routing server failed in Europe, which simultaneously caused problems all around the world. Ultimately, email and internet services for the company’s 70 million users were interrupted for three days.

BlackBerry users can access the free software over the coming weeks on the BlackBerry App World. Of the free apps, which are normally premium apps, users can pick from iSpeech Translator, and such games as “Bejeweled” and “Texas Hold’em Poker 2.” This offer expires at the end of this year. The free month of tech support is only available for enterprise customers.
