The announcement of Backward Compatibility for the Xbox One has certainly been a long-awaited fulfillment of one of the biggest requests from Xbox One. There’s a caveat though: not EVERY Xbox 360 game will be available to play on your shiny current-gen game box, not immediately at least. So what can you play? While we have reported on a possible list, Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hyrb of Xbox has taken to his website today to finally give you a concrete, official answer, and the magic number is 104.
The list was initially announced by Mike Ybarra, Director of Program Management for Xbox, and include 104 titles from Xbox 360 ready for Backward Compatibility, which will be launched alongside the new Xbox One Experience on November 12 this year.
The list range from big name AAA titles to smaller classics on Xbox Live. Ybarra mentioned some of his favorite inclusions which are the Gears of War series, Assassin’s Creed 2, Borderlands, and the recently announced Fallout 3 that will be available for free to Fallout 4 owners. A short look on the list reveals more interesting titles that dates back since the dawn of the Xbox 360, including Kameo: Elements of Power, Shadow Complex, and Perfect Dark Zero (the original Perfect Dark is also available.) Horror-slash-thriller FPS melee classic Condemned, arcade Crazy Taxi, and offroad racing Dirt are also available, rounding up the list.
Overall, the list of games is pretty balanced at the moment and include well-received games from all genres and several classics. With Ybarra’s promise of more fan favorites to come like Halo Reach, Halo Wars, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Bioshock series and Skate 3, nostalgic Xbox fans who want a tastes of past glories should be pretty happy for a long time. Also note that all Xbox 360 games coming with Games with Gold after November 12 will also be available for the Xbox One.
