Popular 3rd-party youtube client mytube! For windows phone updated with 1080p and 60fps support, boasts winrt app framework

myTube, the popular third party YouTube client on Windows Phone, has snagged a new update to add some new handy features to the app. Among other changes, the app no longer relies on Silverlight for playback support as it has switched to the WinRT framework, which is lightweight on the system and offers a seamless experience.

Bumping up the version number to v2.0.0.1, the app now supports FHD videos (1920 x 1080 pixels), recently introduced 60 FPS (frames per second) videos, as well as has the ability to save videos to the microSD card. Additionally, the app now also lets users download the audio version of a video to save space with an ability to sign in into multiple YouTube accounts at once. Here’s the complete changelog:

  • New design.
  • Support for 1080p, 480p and 60 FPS.
  • Ability to download only the audio portion of a video to save space.
  • Ability to save videos to the SD card if your Storage Sense settings allow it.
  • Open videos from the browser in myTube using IE’s share option (no need for the “Open in myTube” link, also works on non-YouTube pages that have YouTube videos embedded).
  • Support for signing into multiple YouTube accounts.
  • Ability to view liked videos.
  • Watch history now loads much faster.
  • Videos start playing much faster.
  • Ability to browse the app in landscape.
  • Background downloads no longer have the file size or connection type limitations that were present in Windows Phone 8.0.

For those who haven’t tried this app yet, you can snag it from the download link below. The developer also announced that the app has been rebuilt from scratch to turn it into a universal app. You can grab the app via the download link below.
