Adobe announces 2014 release of Creative Cloud, includes touch-friendly Photoshop

Adobe has announced the latest incarnation of its Creative Cloud suite. Comprising 14 applications in total — including stalwarts such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Premiere — this is a major release that sees the addition of several new mobile apps. Improvements have been made to touchscreen support meaning that Windows 8 devices, such as the imminent Surface Pro 3, can be transformed into professional-level creative tools.

David Wadhwani, senior vice president of Digital Media at Adobe said “We’ve taken bold steps with this milestone release, fast-tracking new features to industry-defining tools like Photoshop and InDesign, while introducing mobile apps that turn tablets into indispensable creative tools.”

The 2014 release “delivers more Adobe magic” including a new motion blur gallery for Photoshop, as well as enhanced content-aware features. In Illustrator, Windows users can take advantage of GPU acceleration with an Adobe-certified NVIDIA graphics card.

This release has been designed to improve workflow for people working on multiple devices. Files, settings and preferences are made available to multiple devices through Creative Cloud.

The Creative Cloud desktop apps are available as free updates to existing users, and there are free iOS apps available to everyone. Free trials are available if you fancy trying out any of the tools for yourself before parting with any cash.
