Poll: Where will Windows 10 rank as an operating system?

Windows 10, Windows 10, Windows 10. Will talking about it ever get old? Probably not. If it ever will, it hasn’t happened yet. This week’s poll is about the future of Windows 10; where it will rank among the echelon of operating systems. Will it be the greatest Windows ever or will it fall into disfavor with the Windows faithful? Or will it become a middle child, somewhere between Windows 7 and Windows… well we don’t need to name names but insertpoor version of Windows here.

A few explanations for this week’s poll. Even though Windows 10 will be on many platforms, this poll is specifically for Windows 10 on PCs. This is about public perception and how well Windows 10 will be received by users, fans, and the media. Personal preferences vary and some people prefer Windows 8.1 over Windows 7 or vice versa, so a quantifiable ranking is hard to come by. We assumed that Windows 7 is viewed as the best Windows at the moment (knowing that some may disagree with that ranking) and used Windows 8/8.1 for comparison because it is so recent and drastically different than Windows 7. We also only chose Windows operating systems to avoid this becoming a Windows vs. Linux vs. OSX debate.

Where do you think Windows 10 will rank as an operating system? Share your vote and share your reasoning in the comments below. We also have an article today on how your upgrade to Windows 10 went (if you chose to do so) so there’s plenty of opportunities to share your thoughts and feelings.
